- The American Association of Advertising Agencies makes scholarship money available to minority advertising students through the Bill Bernbach Diversity Scholarship. Five scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $5,000. To be eligible, an applicant must be a full-time African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic American or Native American advertising student, must be able to demonstrate financial need and must be pursuing a graduate degree. Applications are available from the office of student financial aid at participating schools.
- The LaGrant Foundation offers scholarship support to both undergraduate and graduate advertising majors of minority ethnicity. Undergraduate scholarships are limited to candidates with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and awarded in the amount of $5,000. Graduate scholarships are limited to candidates with a GPA of 3.2 or higher and awarded in the amount of $10,000. To be eligible, an applicant must be of African-American, Native American, Asian Pacific Islander or Hispanic origin. All application materials must be received by the annual deadline of February 28.
- Several regional organizations offer support limited to female and minority advertising students. For example, New York Women in Communications offers scholarships of up to $10,000 to female students who are residents of New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or New Jersey, and to all female advertising students attending school in New York City. Regional chapters of the American Advertising Federation in many U.S. cities -- including Houston, Cleveland and Tucson -- offer scholarship programs limited to minority applicants.
- Some schools that offer degrees in advertising and communications also administer scholarships limited to minority and female applicants. For example, undergraduate minority advertising majors attending the School of Communication at Radford University may be eligible for AAF Mosaic Center on Multiculturalism Scholarships valued at $5,000. The Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship is available in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to minority students attending the University of Texas at Austin.
