- 1). Go to your carrier's official website and log-in. Find the "downloads" area of your member's area and then select your device. Each carrier's website is different, so call your carrier's customer support if you are confused.
- 2). Download the software to your computer. When selecting a place to save it, it is easiest to save it to the Desktop to allow for easy transferring later on.
- 3). Download the latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. This software is available for free at Research in Motion's official website. See the resources section for a link.
- 4). Open the BlackBerry OS installer. You will have to click through a few prompt screens, and then the RIM Desktop manager will be launched. You will then be prompted to plug in your BlackBerry.
- 5). Use a mini-USB cord to connect your phone to your computer. Once the connection has been established, click "OK" in the installation screen and wait for the process to finish. This will typically take between 30 to 45 minutes and you will not be able to use your phone during this time.
