How to Remove the Front Access Panel of a Frontload Kenmore Washer

    • 1). Unplug the front load Kenmore washer from the wall outlet. Cut off the water supply by turning the spigots off that supply water to the washer.

    • 2). Place a bucket underneath the area where the water hoses are connected to the Kenmore washer. Disconnect the water hoses from the washer by turning them counterclockwise. Place the ends of the water hoses in the bucket to prevent spilling residual water on the floor.

    • 3). Pull the front load Kenmore washer away from the wall so you can access the rear of the unit. You need enough room behind the washer to pull the top panel off of the unit.

    • 4). Go behind the washer and remove the three hex head screws that secure the top panel to the rear of the washer using a socket wrench. Lift the rear of the top cover and unhook it from the front panel. Slide the top cover toward you and remove it from the Kenmore washer.

    • 5). Pull the dispenser drawer open if your unit is equipped with one at the control access panel. Press the release tab with your finger and remove the drawer from the washer. There are three screws in the recessed area that the drawer came out of and they need to be removed with a screwdriver.

    • 6). Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws that attach the top edge of the control access panel to the inside of the Kenmore washer.

    • 7). Press in on the locking tab on the right side of the front access panel. Pull the access panel away from the washer. Press in the locking tabs on the three wiring harnesses with your finger and pull each harness away from the front access panel.
