How to cure a sinus infection.
That's a great question! How do you cure a sinus infection? Well, there are a couple of ways to go about it.
But I will cover 3 of the most popular and effective ways in this article.
Before we even attempt to try anything, I think that it is important to note that only a doctor can determine if you really have a sinus infection.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let's get to the problem.
1.
Over the counter medications (OTC) - For many people, this is the first route that they take to try to cure their sinus infection, or sinusitis.
There is nothing wrong with this route.
The only problem with it is that the OTC meds tend to relieve SOME of the symptoms.
Mainly the headache and some of the pain.
The bulk of the symptoms are still weighing on you.
The bad breath, the feeling of facial fullness and the nasal drip.
Having these symptoms remain AFTER you take the OTC meds can reveal that another more serious problem is lurking.
2.
Antibiotics - Antibiotics are a good weapon to use for fighting sinusitis, if the cause of your sinusitis is from a virus.
What do I mean? Well, antibiotics were developed to kill off BACTERIA.
Not viruses.
So, if your sinusitis is viral in nature, antibiotics will do nothing to relieve the symptoms.
3.
Nasal Sprays - Nasal Sprays have been the best weapon deployed in the fight against sinusitis.
But, there is a degree of discomfort involved and not everyone is ready to accept that discomfort.
The discomfort comes from the ingredient capsaicin.
Capsaicin is derived from chili peppers, and that is what makes you feel that burning sensation in your nose and throat.
What capsaicin does is overload the nerves, so that they are unable to report the pain back to your brain.
Ingenious huh? But still, it is just a temporary relief.
When the capsaicin wears off, the pain returns.
