Canada Great Nation Eh?

Canada the land of opportunities is regarded as one of the best places to live globally, according to various studies conducted by Mercer.
com, InternationalLiving.
com, and other acclaimed lifestyle magazines.
It has a much higher standard of living in contrast to our brothers and sisters down south and is often praised for its diversity of people.
Canada blesses us with good schools (for the most part), functional health care, freedom of choice, reliable infrastructure, and safe drinking water just to name a few.
These are vital 'necessities' which we have grown far too comfortable with.
In developing countries such as India, Thailand, Nigeria it may be hard for residents to just find essential needs that guarantee survival such as; adequate housing, clean drinking water and nutritious food.
Canada has the Ninth Highest Per Capita Income in the world at $50,436 (How Canada Performs 2007, Ottawa: The Conference Board of Canada, 2007, p.
36).
Canada is really a global economic powerhouse and is the home of a very intellectual and skillful workforce.
In this great nation how can we discriminate a great pool of people, people who left everything to start a new life in this beloved nation? I am taking about immigrants, the wave of people that leave their country to immigrate to this nation in search for a better life.
Is that what they get? Immigration per annum ranges between 221,352 and 262,236 immigrants since the year of 2001...
how many of these people are getting the jobs they deserve? That is the question that I have pondered on among the last few weeks.
Over the summer, I worked part time at a local factory in Milton to help pay off my tuition when I noticed all of my co-workers were majority visible minorities.
Majority being recent Indian, Chinese and African immigrants (upwards of five years spent in Canada).
What startled me was that majority of them all had good jobs and were well educated! I met doctors, engineers, IT professionals and mechanics all working at a factory.
I talked to the doctors and made a discovery that they would have to go to school hear and re-do medical school, write board exams, and other certifications that would make them able to practice their specialties here.
Long story short the process is very lengthy and complicated.
In Brampton, the Brampton Civic Hospital LACKS doctors, nurses and other medical professionals! We have wait times of over six-seven hours for a major medical issue.
Many people have died in the Emergency Room because they did not receive the attention they rightfully needed.
We have medical professionals who are working in FACTORIES when they are needed in HOSPITALS! We need to develop a way where these skilled professionals can transfer their skills over and practice according to the Canadian guidelines and protocols.
I understand it is a difficult process but we need to make special programs to ease the process and make it more 'accomplishable.
' We have over-skilled workers in our factories who do not belong there, and hospitals that need doctors.
We have a problem on our hands and we need to fix it! We are the people, our vote counts...
The provincial elections are coming up and Ontario is responsible for our OHIP.
So let's try to address this...
