- 1). Replace the batteries. Many problems with the screen or display can be traced to old or drained batteries. The manufacturer recommends using Energizer or Duracell batteries. Make sure the battery compartment is sealed completely.
- 2). Turn the camera off and remove the SD card. Turn the camera back on and allow it to run through its menu. This is particularly helpful if the camera is displaying bars across the screen.
- 3). Check the flash setting and make sure it is turned "On," especially if pictures are darker than you expect.
- 4). Press the reset button on top of the camera. This button is recessed, so you will need a pen or a bent paperclip in order to press the button. The camera will reboot itself.
- 5). Set the camera up at least 3 feet above the ground. Make sure that it is securely attached to a stable object and set to "AUTO" mode.
