Hoover Carpet Cleaner Repair

    Carpet Cleaner Does Not Run

    • If your Hoover carpet cleaner will not run, check the plug and make sure it is fully plugged into the wall outlet.

If it is plugged in firmly but still will not run, go to your fuse box and verify that the fuse has not been tripped. Flip the fuse switch that controls the wall outlet in question to the "OFF" position and then to the "ON" position.

Try your Hoover carpet cleaner again. If the Hoover carpet cleaner still does not run, you must take it to an authorized dealer for repair or return.

    Cleaning Solution Will Not Dispense

    • If cleaning solution will not dispense, then you may have improper suction in the cleaning solution tank or recovery tank.

Remove the cleaning solution tank by pressing down on the tank handle. Pull the cleaning solution tank away from the unit, and then reinsert it, making sure to press the tank firmly into place.

Press the handle release lever on the right side of the unit, and lower the handle. Remove the lid from the recovery tank, and re-seat it firmly into place, making sure to make a complete seal around the recovery tank.

    Brushes Fail to Spin

    • If the brushes on your Hoover carpet cleaner fail to spin, there may be a problem---some sort of blockage---with the suction or with the belt that turns the brushes.

Turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and inspect the brush area. Debris, strings, or pet hair may be tangled in the rollers, keeping them from turning. Use a pair of scissors to cut away any obstructions in this area. Flip the Hoover carpet cleaner back over, and turn it on to see if cleaning the rollers has solved the problem.

To check the belt, turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and remove the bottom plate screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. Investigate the belt area to see if it is broken or has somehow slipped off. If it is broken, you can order a part from Hoover.com or from many of the other online parts stores.

When the belt arrives, simply slide it on in place of the broken belt, reattach the bottom plate and turn the Hoover carpet cleaner right-side up. Turn it on to test your solution.

    Low Suction

    • While in the process of operating your Hoover carpet cleaner, you may have a problem with low suction. While replacing the recovery tank after emptying it, you may not have replaced it properly, thus causing an open seal in one of the suction areas.

Press the handle release pedal on the right side of the unit, and lower the handle to the ground. Remove the recovery tank, and set it to the side. Remove the lid on the recovery tank, and check for any obstructions. Replace the recovery tank lid firmly, and replace the recovery tank into the base of the Hoover carpet cleaner.

Turn the Hoover carpet cleaner on and resume cleaning.
