Green Light
On the way to the radio tower, Aaron starts crying. Naomi asks what's the matter and Claire says she doesn't know and that she thinks he's just a bit scared."Hard to blame him," Naomi says. The phone makes a noise and she pulls it off her hip.
"What is it?" Claire asks.
"What's your boyfriend's name? The rock star who swam down to the station?"
"Charlie."
"Charlie just got us rescued." Naomi runs to Jack.
"Jack, Jack he did it! Your friend bloody well did it! The green light, it's on. The jamming stopped."
"Use it then," Jack says.
Naomi turns it on and they hear Rousseau's message. "What's this?" she says.
"It's Rousseau's message. It's still blocking the signal."
"It doesn't matter," Rousseau says, "we're here."
They go over a rise and see a large radio tower. Some of them go inside. They see a bunch of equipment.
"I recorded this sixteen years ago," Rousseau says to Alex. "Three days before you were born. I guess we don't need it anymore." She turns off the loop.
Naomi says she can't get a signal inside the tower and goes out and says, "I'm getting something."
"It's going to work!" Kate says. "It's happening, we're going to get off this island!"
"I'll celebrate when we're home," Jack says.
"Jack," Ben says, "I know you think you're saving your people, but you need to stop this, it's a mistake."
"The mistake was listening to you."
"I'm telling you, Jack, making that call is the beginning of the end."
"I've got it, I've got a signal!" Naomi says.
"Jack, please," Ben says, "you don't know what you're doing."
"I know exactly what I'm doing," Jack says.
The phone says connected and suddenly Naomi drops to the ground. She has a knife in her back. They see that it was thrown by Locke.
"John!" Jack yells.
"Step back, Jack," Locke says.
"What did you do?" Jack asks.
"What I had to do, Jack."
The phone is on the ground, ringing.
Locke tells Jack to step away from the phone, but Jack bends and picks it up. Locke fires a warning shot.
"I don't want to shoot you," Locke says.
"Do it, John! Shoot him!" Ben says. Rousseau knocks Ben out.
The phone continues to ring.
"Please," Locke says, "put the phone down."
"No," Jack says, "you're done keeping me on this island."
"I will kill you if I have to."
Jack walks toward Locke. "Then do it, John."
Locke tries, but can't pull the trigger.
Someone answers the phone, "Minkowski," and Jack brings it to his ear.
"Who is this?" Jack asks.
"Who is this?" Minkowski says.
"My name is Jack Shephard. Are you on the boat, the freighter?"
Locke walks away.
"How did you get this frequency?" Minkowski says.
"Naomi."
"Naomi? You found her? Who are you?"
"I'm one of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Can you get a fix on our location?"
"Hell, yeah, we can. Sit tight. We'll be right there."
Jack's Flash Forward - Kate
Jack sits on the floor in a messy apartment, holding his cell phone. He takes a drink, then dials the phone. There is a woman on the other end."Hello," Jack says. "It's me. Wait, don't hang up. Please. I know what you said, I just need to see you. Please. Yeah, out at the airport. You know where. Thank you."
Jack drives to the airport and waits in his car. Another car drives in. The person gets out and walks toward Jack. It's Kate.
"Hey," she says. "Saw you on the news. Still pulling people out of burning wreckage, huh?"
"Old habits."
"You look terrible."
"Thanks," Jack says.
"Why did you call me, Jack?"
Jack hands her the newspaper clipping. "I thought maybe you'd heard. I thought maybe you'd go to the funeral."
"Why would I go to the funeral?"
Jack nods. She gives him back the clipping.
"I've been flying a lot," Jack says. "That golden pass that they gave us, I've been using it. Every Friday night I fly from Los Angeles to Tokyo, or Singapore, or Sydney. And I get off and I have a drink, and then I fly home."
"Why?"
"Because I want it to crash, Kate. I don't care about anybody else on board. Every little bump we hit, or turbulence, I actually close my eyes and I pray that I can get back."
"This is not going to change," Kate says.
"No, I am sick of lying. We made a mistake."
"I have to go. He's going to be wondering where I am."
He grabs her. "We were not supposed to leave."
"Yes we were," Kate says. "Bye, Jack."
He watches her leave. "We have to go back, Kate!"
She looks at him with a look of pity.
