Aside from chemical treatments that can wipe out the entire group of rats that infest your house, traps designed for a multi-catch are popular nowadays especially to people who do not want to risk their health with the use of synthetic products. In addition, traps are less messy as compared to chemicals that kills rat and leaves carcasses everywhere which can create a foul odor especially in case the body was not found immediately. The best thing about traps is that you know where the bodies are and where they are going afterwards.

Making your own multi-catch rat trap can be done by any person especially if you have the right set of tools required for the job. All you need are basic materials and tools that will help you assemble and finish the project. You don't have to be skilled with equipments in order to accomplish the trap properly. Below is a guide on how you can create your own trap.

-- Tools and Materials €" first of all, you would like to start with the right tools and the proper material for the job. You can always use alternatives though in case you do not have the mentioned stuffs below; however make sure that they function similar to those that are required. You will be needing a power drill, large bucket, wood dowel, pop can, hammer, steel punch, a piece of board, and peanut butter for the bait.
-- Drill Holes on Bucket and Can €" prepare the bucket first by drilling holes using your drilling machine right at the top of the hinges where you will be installing the dowel later on. Make sure that the holes would allow the wooden dowel to fit perfectly to allow the can to rotate properly for successful rat trapping. Drill holes at the bottom and at the top (lid part) of the pop can using a steel punch and hammer. Be careful with every swing as you would not want to flatten out the can. Although the holes are quite larger this time as they should be able to accommodate the wooden dowel for successful rotation.
-- Install €" insert the other end of the wooden dowel into one of the hole of the bucket and slip it into the pop can afterwards. As soon as you have put the dowel at the other hole of the bucket, you can now secure it in place to prevent failure in the future. Position the bucket in an area away from your children and pets. However, make sure that the area you chose is a place where you see rats roaming around. Put one end of the board resting at the lid of the bucket while the other tip is lying on the floor. This will allow the rat to have an access to the multi-catch trap. As soon as this is finish, cover the can with peanut butter as bait that will attract rodents into your trap. Pour water into the bucket in order to prevent rats from escaping.
