- 1). Sand the entirety of a 1-foot-by-2-foot piece of plywood, including the edges. This will be the cafe's floor. Clean the plywood thoroughly and paint it in a solid color, or in a checkered pattern resembling floor tiles. Set aside to dry.
- 2). Place the dried plywood vertically on your workspace. Draw a line across the board 6 inches below the top. Arrange the wooden blocks neatly along the line to create the base of the counter. Glue in place with wood glue. Make the counter higher by adding another row of blocks directly on top of the first, gluing in place. Allow time for glue to dry.
- 3). Paint the sides of the counter. Glue images of cafe-type foods cut from magazines onto the top of the counter.
- 4). Remove the top of the shoe box and set aside. Place the box horizontally on your workspace. This will become the base of the couch. Cut out the front panel of the box, leaving a 1-inch strip along the bottom. Paint the entire box, including the inside. When dry, fill the bottom of the box with soft, folded cloth to form the couch cushions.
- 5). Glue the couch vertically along the lower right-hand side of the plywood floor. Glue two wooden blocks in front of the couch to create a coffee table. Paint the coffee table.
- 6). Place a bear behind the counter to act as barista. Seat two bears on the couch to be the customers. Add further detail, such as a hand-drawn cafe menu, espresso cups as bear coffee mugs, or a tiny container as a tip jar to make it resemble your favorite coffee shop.
