Many people suffer from anxiety or panic attacks.
Even very confident individuals can suffer in certain circumstances.
Others suffer panic attacks but are unaware that they do.
To most people, anxiety is a natural and healthy sensation It is the body's way of gearing you up to deal adequately with a difficult or challenging situation.
In its normal form it is a very positive influence on your behaviour.
However, when the anxiety turns into panic attacks, it is very frightening and embarrassing for the individual.
Certain social or work situations can become impossible to deal with.
Whether it is meeting new people for the first time, having to make a presentation in front of a crowd of people, or merely expressing your opinion on a topic.
So, how do you distinguish between a panic attack and normal healthy anxiety? If you experience more than one of the following signs at the same time, then you are almost certainly having a panic attack.
- Dizzy spells leading to panic - Tightness in throat and chest- shortness of breath - Racing heart with tingle sensations - Hot flushes followed by waves of anxiety - Obsessive worries and unwanted thoughts - Not feeling connected to what is going on around you - Overwhelming fear that the anxiety will push you over the edge? The good news is that you can learn to manage these panic attacks and gradually overcome them so that you can do all the things you were previously frightened to do.
There are many techniques to do so and each person who has overcome this debilitating condition will speak highly of the method they used.
It is generally not solved by taking medicine, but by learning how to conquer your own fears and anxieties.
