Create a simple storyline. This is a lot like creating a table-top role-playing game in the same mode as Dungeons and Dragons, GURPS, or Travelers. Plan useful items for the players to find, plan how many items they can carry and how each object will be used. Plan out the abilities the players can learn or earn. Be sure to also plan the "bad guys," traps or other problems the players will have to overcome. - 3). Download a text adventure editor program. Open the program and, using your storyline, follow the prompts to set up the different rooms and establish actions and consequences. In general, the editor program will give helpful directions like "type a paragraph describing the room. Be sure to include possible exits, such as doors and windows." It will provide a space for your text directions as well as widgets for establishing items that can be acted upon or selected for later use. It will also help with establishing the antagonist or create the puzzle players will need to solve.
- 4). Publish your game on your web page. This may be done a couple of different ways. If you have a web page that uses an ftp program to add items to your page, you can upload your text adventure into the same folder as the page, and then use the command display name to create a link to your game program. If the program is embedded in an existing webpage (some game program companies provide limited publishing), use the same command, but substitute the URL of your game for program location.
