How to Make Lotions & Soap Using Extracts

    Green Tea and Lavender Soap

    • 1). Break your soap base into smaller bits (this can be done by hand) and place the pieces in a microwave-safe bowl.

    • 2). Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and place it into the microwave, heating the bowl on high for one minute.

    • 3). Remove the bowl from the microwave, and remove/discard the plastic wrap.

    • 4). Stir the liquefied soap base to melt any remaining bits.

    • 5). Add 15 to 20 drops each of green tea extract and lavender essential oil to the soap, stirring to combine all the ingredients.

    • 6). Pour the soap into soap molds, spraying any exposed areas with rubbing alcohol to prevent the formation of air bubbles.

    • 7). Allow the soap to harden for three to 24 hours. Carefully remove the soap from molds, and use as desired.

    Green Tea and Lavender Lotion

    • 1). Add the distilled water, borax, shea butter, coconut oil and almond oil to the cooking pot.

    • 2). Heat the oils over low heat, stirring occasionally until they are thoroughly combined (about 10 minutes).

    • 3). Add 15 to 20 drops each of green tea extract and lavender essential oil to the pot. Stir to combine.

    • 4). Remove the pot from heat, and allow the oils to cool for five minutes.

    • 5). Pour the ingredients into an airtight container, then blend one final time with an immersion blender. Place a lid on the container between uses.
