- Both men and women use depilatories to remove hair from the body. The first part of this system involves the application of the cream. You clean the area where hair removal is desired and then apply the cream.
- After the cream is applied to the area of hair, it is left on the skin for a few minutes. During this time, the cream is penetrating the hair follicles in the skin. More specifically, it is dissolving the protein component of the hair inside the follicle.
- After the cream has been left on the skin and it has dissolved the protein of the hair at the follicle, the hair breaks off. You then use a damp towel or washcloth to wipe away the hair and cream. When you do this, use downward strokes with pressure. Then continue the same procedure at every location where hair removal is desired. After you have finished, take a shower to wash off any excess hair and cream that me be lying on the skin.
- Because depilatories have active ingredients in them, you run the risk of some skin irritation, especially if your skin is sensitive. It is a good idea to use a skin cream or conditioner after you have removed the hair and taken a shower. This will help diminish any irritation.
