The Early Voting Law in Florida

    When to Vote Early

    • Early voting in Florida takes place 15 days before an election begins and ends on the second day before an election, according to the state law.

    Where to Vote

    • Voters can cast ballots early at the office of the supervisors of elections or a branch location, and balloting also can be held in city halls and public libraries. The locations are certified at least 30 days prior to an election.

    Same Setup as Election Day

    • The law states that the ballot setup and the technology involved is the same that is used on election day.

    Necessary Documentation

    • Voters need to have a valid photo identification card and a signature identification.

    Record of Early Votes

    • Additional laws passed in January 2006 require that supervisors of elections in each county record a summary of the total number of early voters and a list of who participated in the vote, as well as requests for absentee ballots.
