- 1). Apply a thin coating of dish soap to the inside of the wheel. This will reduce the amount of friction between the bead of the tire and the inside of the rim.
- 2). If the tire has been removed from the wheel, replace it on the wheel. Apply a bead of vacuum grease between the tire and the wheel. This will help temporarily seal the gap between the tire and the wheel while it is being filled. Wrap and secure the large belt over the tire to keep the rubber in contact with the wheel.
- 3). Turn on the air compressor and allow it to fully fill before using it. Fill the tire with air at a setting 20 pounds per square inch (PSI) above the maximum air pressure rating for the tire. Fill the tire with air until you hear the audible double-pop of the bead seating itself in the rim of the wheel.
