- 1). Verify that the Roper dryer is firmly plugged into a grounded, 3-prong power outlet. Use a volt meter, available at most hardware or home repair stores, to ensure that the outlet is receiving at least 240 volts of electricity.
- 2). Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse if necessary. Dryers use two fuses or circuit breakers, so if one fuse or circuit breaker has blown, the dryer may have power but will not work as expected. Use a time-delay fuse, also available at most hardware or home repair stores.
- 3). Ensure that the Roper dryer's door is firmly closed, as the dryer will not operate if the door is open.
- 4). Select a cycle and press "Start" to start the dryer. Note that the dryer will not work if set to the "Wrinkle Guard" cycle. Move the dial to a dry cycle past "Off" and "Wrinkle Guard."
- 5). Contact a Roper service center for assistance, as other potential issues include a broken belt, timer or motor.
