How to Disable Windows Media Player to Connect a USB Transfer

    • 1). Open the Windows Start menu and type "Gpedit.msc" (without quotes) in the "Search" box. Click on "Edit Group Policy" to launch the utility.

    • 2). Select "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "AutoPlay Policies" in the left sidebar.

    • 3). Double-click "Turn Off AutoPlay" in the main window.

    • 4). Select "Disabled". You can optionally turn off AutoPlay specifically for the USB drive by selecting it from the "Turn Off AutoPlay On:" drop-down menu. Click "OK" to save the settings and exit the Group Policy Editor. Next time you insert the USB flash drive, Windows Media Player will not automatically run upon detection, nor will any other application .
