The title characters of Melissa & Joey are Mel Burke, a suburban city council member, and Joe Longo, a former commodities trader who now works for Mel helping her take care of her niece and nephew. This unconventional family works to overcome the troubles of their pasts (including a scandal that left Mel’s sister in prison) and build a bright future for themselves.
