BlackBerry 10 with Multiple Stratum Operating System

Blackberry 10 OS, based on QNX Neutrino Real Time Operating System, is blended with the security elements of Blackberry by Research In Motion Ltd. While at Blackberry World Conference security features of Blackberry 10 were not revealed but the Senior Vice President of RIM, Scott Totzke, made a general talk over it. With integrated multiple layers of security Blackberry 10 provides a cooperating relationship between hardware and software. Security applications will be on permission based and will be in understandable and simple English.

According to Totzke, after acquiring QNX, RIM has merged its security architect with QNX. QNX has provided its operating system as Neutrino RTOS secure kernel few years ago which was certified by EAL as +4. Now, this association is providing features like Blocking root access that enables hackers to have access to administrator of OS. The former makes accessing of data difficult for hackers, auditing of kernel etc. and will make security features of this operating system exceptional.

Neutrino microkernel keeps the kernel safe by keeping drivers, protocols stacks, applications and file system running outside the microkernels. This means, if all these external components fail then these can be replaced and restarted without affecting kernels. Thus, malware attack is prevented by making such isolation. According to QNX, the Neutrino provides smooth Interface with Portable Operating System (POSIX) which thus, prevents the use of any other registered or unregistered interface that can be insecure in performance and can give miscalculated results. The Real Time Operating System (RTOS) was designed for POSIX support with a concept that eradicates the requirement for including an intricate POSIX adaptation layer. This results in quicker performance with low memory requirements.

All these security levels and infrastructures may not be visible to users but for blackberry bold 9790 contract payment a technology it provides the most secured domain and is very essential for users who seek for security. RIM has made 80% of shipments with its Blackberry Smartphones to the U.K. retailers in first quarter and all shipments have been up to the standard of Near Field Communication (NFC) and chosen for contactless mobile payments. To emphasize this, Totzke said that he sometimes forgets to carry his wallet but never forgets to carry his phone. He also added, for these payments, the security might be little issue for users but a big issue for developers.
