How to Find a Student Flat Mate

    • 1). Tell everyone you know that you're looking for a roommate. When you convey this message, mention the location of the apartment that you're looking to share and the cost, plus additional information like parking and utilities.

    • 2). Post a message on Facebook, Twitter or other social networking sites that you are looking for a roommate. Mention the cost of the apartment, location, and additional necessary information. Send out a mass email to all of your friends. Ask your friends to talk to people they know as that's one of the most common ways that people get acquainted with new roommates, through a friend of a friend.

    • 3). Make fliers and post them around your college campus. Include all the necessary information about the apartment and the costs. Also specify if you're looking for someone who is a non-smoker, non-drinker, non-pet owner or various other details. Post the fliers in areas where you're likely to meet someone who has similar interests to you, such as outside the college gym or drama club headquarters.

    • 4). Post an advertisement on free electronic advertising forums, such as craigslist.org or your university intranet. Don't include personal information, but invite potential roommates to explain why they'd like to live in the apartment.
