- 1). Research the admission requirements for the school you are interested in attending. You are given the opportunity to apply to five schools, it is important to make sure that you meet the requirements for the school in order to be accepted. Individual school admission requirements can be found on the schools website or by contacting the school directly. The School District of Philadelphia also publishes a high school guide listing all school admission criteria which can be found on the district website. Some schools request an essay as part of the application requirements.
- 2). Obtain the "High School Admissions Application" by downloading from the School District of Philadelphia's website or obtaining from your school counselor. This can be found on the School District website by visiting the Voluntary Transfer Page and scrolling down to the highlighted link.
- 3). Begin completing the application be entering your school identification number. This number can be obtained from your school transcripts. You can then complete the personal information section as well as enter your current school information. You should skip the questions about special education and school status as they must be completed by your school counselor. You must have a parent/guardian signature in order for your application to be accepted. You should then list all list all schools (up to five) which you are requesting admission as well as their school codes in the order of your preference. School codes can be found in the high school directory or by contacting the individual schools.
- 4). Submit your application to your school counselor. The school counselor will attach a copy of your transcripts as well as any essays or recommendation forms. The application will be sent to all schools in which you listed on your form. You should expect to receive notification of your admittance by March or April of the present school year.
