- A soccer party is perfect for a kid who loves the game.soccer image by Sandra Henderson from Fotolia.com
When having a party for a group of soccer-playing kids, things go best if you keep them busy at all times. Children left to their own devices may get into mischief, so plan lots of games to keep everyone busy and having fun. Make sure the games fit the theme of the party, and have a mix of active and quiet games for the kids to play. - Draw a large soccer goat net on a sheet of poster board. Cut out small soccer balls from construction paper, one for each player. Blindfold the players, one at a time, and let each child try to pin his ball in the goal. You can have a target area in the center of the goal, or give points for pinning a ball in different parts of the net, such as corners. Play several rounds, and the player with the highest score wins. Kids 6 and up will enjoy this game. It can be played indoors or out. It's a good game to play right after eating, as it keeps the kids busy but isn't too active.
- To play this game, fill and cap 10 plastic bottles with water. Set them up in a triangle, as bowling pins would be. Have the kids take turns kicking a soccer ball toward the bottles, to see who can knock down the most. Let each player have several turns at knocking down all of the "pins" (someone will need to set them up between tries) and keep score. The player who knocks down the most bottles wins the game. If there is a tie, you can have a sudden-death round, where each of the tied players gets one kick and the high score wins, or you can award multiple prizes. This game is best if the party is in a park or if you have a large, open area, as the kicks can get quite enthusiastic and don't always stay on the ground. Soccer players of all ages enjoy this game.
- Set up two identical lines of cones. Divide the kids into two teams, and have them dribble a soccer ball as they weave through the cones, racing from one end of the course to the other, and back again. The returning racer must tag the next child in line, who takes her turn at racing through the course. Whichever team finishes first is the winner. This game, good for all ages, is excellent for burning off excess energy and is good near the beginning of the party.
