Depression And Panic Disorders - Breaking The Link!

Considerable research and clinical studies have been undertaken to find a correlation between the disorders of panic and disorders of depression.
Most patients of panic disorders suffer from depression too.
Studies have documented that out of the patients suffering from panic disorders, 85% also suffer from depression.
Researchers are trying to find the physical reason as a result of which these two mental disorders are often found to affect the patients concurrently.
The studies focus on the genetic characteristics and how they affect the production of the chemical in the brain which keeps emotional balance in humans.
This chemical is called serotonin and scientists are determined to find out whether heredity plays an important part in the serotonin production and thereby in the tendency to develop depression and anxiety in the human mind.
Depression displays a wide range - from mild level of depression to severe one.
Depression takes away the enjoyment from life and hence is debilitating.
Depression symptoms are displayed by lack of enthusiasm, excessive crying and lack of appetite.
Panic disorders leading to panic attacks occur due to the physical, emotional and mental factors.
One common factor between depression and panic disorders is the serotonin production in the brain which induces the tendency of both depression and panic disorders attacks.
The positive development now is the availability of many medications to help you get over depression and panic disorders.
Of course, these medications form only a part of a more comprehensive recovery program that constitutes regular counseling, exercise and consistent learning of techniques to restore self-esteem.
Some people erroneously believe that prescriptions of medicines indicate that they are unable to cope up with life or are seriously sick.
But in these types of disorders, medications are used for short periods to enable the patients to stabilize fast and regain the capacity to benefit from other treatments which take a little longer to take effect.
It also means that the sooner you start leaning to get over emotional deterrents leading to panic attacks and start exercising, the sooner you will be free from the need to take medications.
The healthy self-talk methods and the exercise techniques actually result in more production of endorphins in your brain and restore the right serotonin balance.
It is at that point that the need for medication to treat depression and panic disorders disappears.
Normally, antidepressants called tricyclics and SSRIs are the most preferred medication for treating both depression and panic disorders.
Both of them lessen anxiety and are prescribed for depression and panic disorders which range from moderate to severe.
Milder attacks of panic disorders or mild depression are often prescribed natural remedies like Valerian or herbs of Saint-John's-wort for anxiety treatment.
Depression and panic disorders need to be treated concurrently as they often exist concurrently.
Ongoing studies have not yet discovered if they lead to each other.
In the meantime, one has many ways at his disposal to regain control of one's life such as resorting to medications for short terms and undertaking a self-help program to reduce one's anxiety.
