Candida esophagitis results from an oral yeast infection or fungal infection that starts in the mouth and spreads down the esophagus.
The infection gets its name from the yeast, Candida.
Yeast infections, including Candida in the throat, affect all ages and sexes.
However, those with weak immune systems seem to be at greater risk of developing a Candida throat infection.
Many of us may have not realized that yeast infections are not only infections around our private areas, but they can also form in other parts of our bodies.
The infections affect both sexes and affect children.
Oral candidiasis infections are most often recognized from symptoms such as burning and pain in the mouth or throat, fever and oral lesions.
Some visible signs include a heavily coated or discolored tongue and cracking around the mouth.
A few other signs that could point to some form of yeast infection are cravings for sugar, alcohol, bread or carbohydrates, fatigue, depression, muscle aches and joint pain.
Those who suffer from Aids, Cancer, Diabetes, Organ transplant patients, and those suffering from thyroid disorders, all have a lowered immune response to infections and suffer greater odds of developing a Candida throat infection.
They are also at greater risk of developing oral thrush because of their weekend immune systems.
For patients who do not suffer from depressed immune systems, treating Candida esophagitis should be rather easy through prescribed antifungals that can be administered orally or through and injection.
However, for those with immune system issues, treatment may be different and lengthier.
If you have suffered with a yeast infection previously, you have probably already made note of a few steps to take and ward off the infections in the future.
Yeast infections can spread rather quickly, and cause pain.
Especially when the infection has spread to the throat and one tries to swallow.
Candida throat infections are a result of yeast infections, or oral thrush, spreading into the throat through infected saliva, which eventually reaches the stomach.
There are a few issues, such as holes in the esophagus, recurring infections, and the spread of infections throughout the body, that cause problems when trying to effectively treat yeast infections in the throat.
A healthy immune system is very important when fighting any infection and yeast infections are no exception.
Those who are suffering from a yeast infection should develop a strict diet, avoiding alcohol, sugar, white flour, refined or processed carbohydrates, fruit, milk and anything containing yeast or mold.
To avoid re-infecting yourself when brushing your teeth, someone who is suffering from a yeast infection in the mouth or throat should disinfect their toothbrushes.
Place your toothbrush in 70 percent of alcohol or hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes before and after each brushing.
In order to try to prevent future Candida esophagitis infections, a daily vitamin, iron supplement or acidophilus should help.
One could also introduce grape fruit seed extract, grape seed oil, gentian, caprian tea, homeopathic Candid Silicea and Artemisia to their daily regimen to try to avoid developing infections.
For anyone who develops symptoms of Candida esophagitis, especially those with a repressed immune system, they should seek medical attention.
Try to keep yourself educated on the Candida organism and how it functions within the compromised body.
