Do you know about the unwritten rules of texting guys? Are you aware that what you do or don't do when it comes to texting can affect your chances of getting to know a guy? Would you like to find out when texting works and when it's a no-no? Gee, with cell phones being so much a part of everybody's life, you'd think that the rules of texting guys would be clear by now.
But unfortunately, that's not the case.
In fact if anything, things are more complicated than ever now.
You'd think texting should be the most straightforward way to keep in touch.
After all, how much can you mess up in a short little message? Well, apparently, lots.
That's why, if you ignore these unwritten rules of texting guys, you are taking a big chance.
Let's take a look at a few of these unwritten rules.
Unwritten Texting Rule 1 - Never, ever send the first text to a guy you just met.
You've heard of a first impression.
Well any impression you're giving him if you text him first, is not going to be a good one.
You'll be sounding desperate, over-anxious, or aggressive if you do.
If you wait for him to text you first, you're going to get a lot of useful information.
First, he's interested in you, otherwise why would he bother to text you? Second, you can see what kind of tone he wants to set, by how his message reads and then you can respond in the same way.
This brings us to the second rule.
Unwritten Texting Rule 2 - Send the right kind of reply.
If he comes across as genuine and sincere and wants to say he had a good time, you wouldn't want to send a flirty, sexy message in reply.
You'd want to send a "me too" message and tell him you're looking forward to getting together with him again.
Unwritten Texting Rule 3 - Don't text him too often.
You're not a couple yet, so don't act as if you are.
Follow his lead.
If he sends you a couple of texts during the day, be sure to reply and maybe also send him one or two others.
But don't text him every hour and fill him in on all the details of your day.
And while you're at it, don't send him texts at weird times.
He really doesn't need to be woken up in the middle of the night with your text just because you were bored.
He doesn't need to know that you're thinking about him, when you know he's in the middle of a big meeting with a client.
Unwritten Texting Rule 4 - Don't always reply to his texts right away.
It's never a good idea to let him know you are sitting waiting for his every text.
But that's exactly the impression you're going to give him if you reply too often too soon.
Let him wait sometimes so he doesn't start to take you for granted.
