- 1). Insert one end of an Ethernet cord into the modem and the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer. Plug the modem into an outlet using the included power cable.
- 2). Install your Windstream Home Networking software onto your computer.
- 3). Hook up your Xbox 360 to a television in the same room as your router. Plug the Xbox 360's composite video cables into your television and the power brick into a wall outlet. Ensure that the Xbox 360 is on a flat surface in an open space. This will prevent overheating of the console.
- 4). Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your Xbox 360. Plug the other end into an Ethernet port on your modem.
- 5). Power on your Xbox 360 and wait for the console's dashboard to appear. Scroll down to "My Xbox" and press "A." Choose "Join Xbox Live" and press "A" again. Select "Sign Me Up" to begin the process of securing an Xbox Live account.
- 6). Enter the information that you are prompted to input. This includes your email address, a password and your date of birth.
- 7). Select the type of membership you want to sign up for. A Silver membership allows you to download games and other content. A Gold membership offers the same perks as Silver membership, but you also can play games online with other players. Gold memberships can be purchased on a month-to-month basis or for a yearly fee.
- 8). Input your credit card information to sign up for Xbox Live Gold. If you signed up for the Xbox 360 bundle with Windstream, you can enter the promotional code found on the Xbox Live card that came with your equipment.
- 9). Choose a Gamertag and picture. Your Gamertag is how you are identified to other gamers. Do not use any offensive language when selecting your Gamertag or you will be required to change the name.

Confirm your information and press "A." Your Xbox Live account will be created, and you will log in automatically whenever you power on your Xbox 360, as long as it is hooked up to a network.
