How to Set a Proxy with GPO

    • 1). Use a server computer to log in.

    • 2). Click "Start" and select "Administrative Tools." Locate and choose "Active Directory Users and Computer."

    • 3). Locate the organizational unit to which you have access and administrative rights. Right-click the folder and select "Properties."

    • 4). Click the tab "Group Policy" when the Properties dialog box appears.

    • 5). Click "New." Type a name for this policy ("Proxy Settings," for example). Click to highlight this new policy.

    • 6). Click "Edit" to open Group Policy Editor.

    • 7). Navigate to the following location in Group Policy Editor in the left pane: "User Configuration" / "Windows Settings" / "Internet Explorer Maintenance" / "Connection."

    • 8). Double-click "Proxy Settings" in the right pane.

    • 9). Check "Enable proxy settings."

      Type your proxy-server address under "Address of proxy." Type port number under "Port." Contact your system administrator or IT Help Desk if you are unsure about either of these.

      Click "OK." Close all open windows. Reboot your computer.
