The River Nile is the life blood of Egypt and for decades, visitors have travel to sail up and down the river between Luxor and Aswan. They come to enjoy to the ancient treasures that are found in abundance in this part of Egypt and to sit back and relax as their cruise boat sails along.
Typically, a Nile cruise lasts for 7 nights and from there, holiday makers either return home but they also have the option to visit other parts of Egypt. There are plenty of resorts along the coast offering something for everyone.
The most popular resort in Egypt is Sharm el Sheikh but it also quite tricky to get to from Luxor. Due to the distance, the only real option is to fly but depending on flight availability and timings, it may mean a night in a hotel in Luxor before catching a flight the following morning.
The cheapest option is to stay in Luxor but its miles from the Red Sea. However, the coast is easily accessible by road in around 4 hours. The main resort is Hurghada which has a number of hotels but there are options to the north of Hurghada at El Gouna or to the south at a number of places including Soma Bay, Makadi Bay and El Quseir.
The resorts around Hurghada are the cheapest option as the return flight is from Luxor which means charter airlines can be used instead of the more expensive scheduled airlines. Hurghada itself is a busy resort with a range of hotels from budget up to 5* luxury.
El Gouna is more secluded and is popular for those wanting a quieter week by the sea after a Nile cruise [http://www.nilecruiseholidays.net]. For secluded luxury, El Quseir is the best option with just two self contained hotels being on offer; the Movenpick or the Radisson Blu. This part of Egypt is very underdeveloped and the town of El Quseir is worth visiting if you want to see a town that is still relatively tourist free.
