Hearing Your Baby"s Heartbeat

Hearing your baby's heartbeat is one of the most amazing sounds you will ever hear.
Seriously, I mean it will take your breath away especially if you are able to see and hear the heartbeat during an ultrasound.
Nothing in the world can sound sweeter to a new mom-to-be especially one that is worried about their growing bundle of joy.
You will have many doctor appointments and chances to hear your baby's heartbeat.
At first your visits will be spread about four weeks apart.
Once you hit thirty weeks your doctor will probably move you to two week visits and then starting at 36 you might go to the doctor every single week until delivery to ensure everything is moving along and on schedule with no complications.
When you hear the heartbeat for the first time it will like be around your tenth week.
Your nurse will place a blob of jelly on your belly and then place a Doppler on top.
She will then movie it around your belly to find your child's heartbeat and ensure that it is beating properly and loudly.
Do not fret if you can not hear the heartbeat at first.
It can sometimes be difficult to locate to due to the placenta being in the way, your baby's position in the womb, etc.
After all your baby is very small in the beginning so if there is any cause for concern your doctor will have an ultrasound performed to verify that everything is progressing properly.
Some parents-to-be order or purchase their very own Doppler for their personal use at home during the pregnancy.
Frequent use of a Doppler is considered safe but bear in mind that if for some reason you can not hear the heartbeat home when you do it yourself, you may have the tendency to panic which is not good for you or your baby.
Call your doctor or wait a few minutes, change positions and try again.
Drinking orange juice may also help.
