- 1). Power on the audio source connected to the speakers such as radio, CD player or home entertainment system. Turn up the volume on the audio source and listen for hissing or crackling sounds. Move the volume to half way on the audio source and listen closely for signs of popping.
- 2). Turn the volume back up and adjust the "Tweeter" or "Crossover" knob located on the back of the speaker. Make sure that the "Tweeter" is adjusted so the audio source isn't too loud.
- 3). Adjust the "Gain" knob on the back of the speaker as you turn the volume up on the audio source. Listen to see if the tone changes as you move the knob.
- 4). Check all of the other knobs on the speaker such as EQ and Delay, if supplied, and make sure the audio changes as you adjust the knobs. Plug headphones into the headphone jack on the speakers, if supplied, and use the "Tweeter," "Crossover" and "Volume" knobs to adjust the sound.
