- 1). Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2). Combine 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup shortening and 3 cups sugar in a large mixing bowl.
- 3). Beat the ingredients together with an electric mixer until it takes on a light, fluffy texture.
- 4). Beat five large eggs in a separate mixing bowl with a fork until the yolk and whites are blended.
- 5). Add the eggs to the butter and sugar mixture and beat thoroughly with the electric mixer.
- 6). Combine 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 cup 7 Up in a separate mixing bowl. Mix together with a spoon, smoothing away any clumps in the flour.
- 7). Add 1 1/2 tsp. lemon extract, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp. almond extract to the flour and 7 Up mixture. Mix the ingredients well with a spoon.
- 8). Add the flour and extract mixture to the butter, sugar and eggs. Beat ingredients together with the electric mixer.
- 9). Apply 2 tbsp. softened butter to the inside of a 10-inch tube pan with a pastry brush. Sprinkle 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour on the buttered surface.

Pour the batter into the greased tube pan and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes. - 11
Allow the baked pound cake to cool for 30 minutes. - 12
Combine 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar with 2 tbsp. 7 Up in a small mixing bowl. Stir the ingredients together until it forms a smooth glaze. - 13
Pour the glaze over the cooled cake.
