Have any of the workouts you have ever tried for love handles ever worked? Have they ever worked for any of the people wandering around at the gym? I would have to guess no.
This is because workouts for love handles and abdominal muscles in general don't generate enough energy to burn enough calories.
Think about it.
It takes 3,500 calories to burn a single, solitary, lonely old pound of fat.
The average person only burns 2,000 calories in the average day.
So what are crunches, sit ups or side twists going to do? That's right, nothing.
But don't lose hope, because there is a way to work the muscles of the abdomen and obliques and burn a significant amount of fat as well.
By using a Russian device called a kettlebell you can burn up to 20 calories a minute and even lose 1% of body fat a week.
A KB is a cannonball shaped devise with a handle and within seconds of using it you will probably be huffing and puffing.
That is because KB workouts introduce a cardio element that is not traditionally found in weight lifting.
One of my favorite workouts for love handles is the figure 8.
To do this you simply stand up straight with your legs spread slightly apart and a KB between your feet.
Bend down and pick the KB up with your hand and pass it between your legs to your other hand.
Then stand up and bring the KB to your chest briefly before bending down and starting again.
