- It's common knowledge that teachers must create lesson plans in accordance with a school's requirements. A teacher should strive to engage his students by teaching creatively.Teachers should help their students develop critical thinking skills as well as prepare them for exams.They should encourage class discussions and presentations that share different ideas and perspectives.
- Teachers are responsible for keeping their students safe.Teachers need to be alert and aware of signs of abuse or neglect.These include physical and emotional symptoms.Teachers should be tuned in to changes in behavior and signs of depression, isolation or anger. Teachers should also be concerned about turmoil between students and be aware of any incidences of bullying. If a teacher learns of problems it is his duty to report them and seek a suitable resolution.
- Teachers must keep track of each student's progress throughout the school year.They must give grades that reflect a student's class performance, test scores and homework assignments.They should also explain to students the reasoning behind their grades and provide guidance. If a student is not doing well, a teacher should try to determine the reasons and offer encouragement and support.
- Teachers must work with one another and the school's administration to ensure that a student is safe and progressing successfully throughout each grade.Teachers should never work in isolation.They must work cooperatively with other members of the school's staff.This exposes teachers to different perspectives that can make them more attuned to their students' needs.
