The 997 generation of the Porsche 911 may be a bit outdated after the German automaker introduced the 997.2 and 991 generation models, but the car tuning specialists at Cars and Art are looking to make the aging sports car more exciting to drive. The newest upgrade program from Cars and Art equips the 997 911 with new body work, Porsche wheels, exhaust, and unique alcantara interior. The upgrades are also designed to be more affordable for owners of the 997 models since the prices have begun to fall in the used market.
The exterior of the 997 911 did not undergo drastic changes, but was fitted with smaller modifications that set it apart from other stock 911 models. The front of the sports car wears a newly designed bumper that utilizes integrated daytime running lights to give it more road presence. A Porsche 911 GT3 lip is also positioned at the front on the new bumper to optimize the aerodynamics at higher speeds. New two-tone side mirrors are worn on each side for a sportier look. At the rear of the 911 sits a redesigned bumper and diffuser system that helps create an area of low pressure underneath the sports car at high speeds.
To complement the sportier exterior design of the 911, Cars and Art upgraded the suspension and chassis with more dynamic springs and upgraded Porsche wheels. New H&R sport suspension springs were installed to lower the overall center of gravity by 25 mm for better handling and optimum balance in high-speed corners. The next step was to install new performance Porsche wheels. Lightweight O.Z. Ultraleggera rims with a six double-spoke design and shiny gloss black finish to contrast the red exterior. The new rims were installed in an 8.5 x 20 front and 12.0 x 20 rear setup and fitted with corresponding 235/30 and 325/25 performance tires.
Both of the 3.4- and 3.6-liter flat-six engines will gain a mild performance increase due to a new exhaust system from Cars and Art. The German tuner developed a new exhaust system with valve flaps that alter the sound that the engine produces depending on the engine's speed and throttle input by the driver.
Inside the Porsche 911, Cars and Art fitted new alcantara upholstery to the seats, dashboard, consoles, gearshift, and doors in a quilted stitched design to make the interior more comfortable and appear more modern.
