TheBackyardigans: Super Secret Super Spy - Overview
Action, adventure and intrigue characterize this first ever full-length Backyardigans movie. Set to a lively soundtrack of hip jazz (with Cyndi Lauper performing the theme song), the James Bond style story finds Pablo, a.k.a.
Agent Secret, with an assignment to save the world by stopping the infamous Lady in Pink (Uniqua) from obtaining three mysterious containers with unknown contents.
As Miss T (Tasha) sends Agent Secret dancing from Miami to London, Switzerland, and the Caribbean, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the Lady in Pink and her hapless henchman Tyrone. With a little help from his undercover contact, Austin, Agent Secret just might be able to secure the containers and stop the Lady in Pink's secret plot.
TheBackyardigans: Super Secret Super Spy - Guide Review
I have always thought that, as far as children's television goes, The Backyardigans is pure genius, so it is no surprise that I think Super Secret Super Spy is absolutely great. Several other double-length adventures from TV shows geared toward preschoolers have come out recently, but none compares to the fun story, stylish music, and adorable characters in Super Secret Super Spy.
Like all Backyardigans episodes, this movie is set to a specific musical genre - hip jazz in this case - and the characters' dance moves are choreographed accordingly.
Children will love to sing and dance along with this DVD, and the clever animation is fun for parents to watch too.
The musical adventure is riddled with silly references to James Bond movies, but the humor is fully and appropriately geared toward children. Super Secret Super Spy is an interesting and cohesive story, and while it is not interrupted an bogged down by attempts to throw in educational elements, the show still contains valuable content for kids. Not only do children learn to recognize jazz and get exposure to corresponding dance moves, they also have an opportunity to practice mathematical concepts and problem solving. Super Secret Super Spy is by far one of the better DVDs available for preschool aged children.
