"Unfriended" Scares Up Third Place at Box Office

The cyber revenge tale Unfriended finished in third place at the box office in its opening weekend with an estimated $16 million, a seemingly modest result that's more impressive given the competition (including the juggernaut Furious 7) and the fact that its budget was only around $1 million. Normally, that type of return would automatically green light a sequel, but you have to wonder if Unfriended's unique computer screen POV format is something that can be exploited a second time or if audiences will have already grown weary of it.

Of course, that question hasn't stopped Hollywood from returning to the well before, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see an Unfriended 2 sometime in the near future.
