- It can be overwhelming to see a lot of job applicants applying for the same position. To help ease some of the anxiety, the job applicant can ask how many new employees the company is seeking to hire. If the company is intending to hire several employees for the position, the job applicant has a greater chance of being hired.
- The job applicant should ask the company representative for the hiring process time-frame. For instance, she can ask about the last date for application submission. She may ask for the date interviews will start and the date the new position will start. By getting these dates, the job applicant won't have to sit back and wonder whether or not she is still being considered for the position. If the deadline passes, and she has not heard from a company representative, it is likely that the job position was awarded to another candidate.
- Just as there are things the job applicant can say verbally, there are also things she can say non-verbally using body language. When turning in the application, the applicant's body language should say "I'm friendly." This message can be relayed by giving a simple smile. The applicant's body language should say, "I'm confident." This message can be relayed by making eye contact with the company representative, holding her head up, maintaining good posture and shaking hands with the company representative.
- The job applicant can say "Thank you for your time." By doing so, the applicant is sending a message to the company representative that he is appreciative. The applicant can also tell the company representative to "Have a nice day." These are closing friendly comments that may leave a lingering impression on the company representative. The applicant must keep the closing comments simple and sincere no matter what he decides to say.
