How to Prepare Ginger Root Herb

    • 1). Peel the skin off the root with the bowl end of the spoon. The skin of the herb is very thin and peels easily using this method. Using a paring knife or a peeler can strip away pieces of the plant along with the peel.

      Slice the peeled root lengthwise as thinly as possible.

    • 3). Stack the pieces on top of one another and make several slices downward. Turn the knife and cross cut so the ginger falls away in diced pieces. Continue to mince until the root is at the preferred size.

    • 4). Grate the root for even finer pieces by using the smallest holes of a cheese grater. Tap the grater against the cutting board to loosen any ginger root that stick to the metal.
