As you get all the two things happen, police officers get younger and things you used to laugh as a kid aren't funny at all any more.
Another thing that I find interesting about getting a little older is that I think TV shows are better during the first series and get gradually worse as the writers and owners of the show try to spin it out for as long as possible.
"Absolutely Fabulous" a comedy the first kicked off back in the early 90s used to have me in stitches and crying like a baby during the first few episodes.
However as the new series came along, I found them less and less funny.
Watching a rerun of the shows today I wonder what it was I found so amusing.
I had to make a decision, stop watching TV or change my viewing 'attitude'.
It's something anyone can do and I'm sure it will help you get more enjoyment from your TV viewing.
Step 1 - Lose the 'grumpy old men' attitude Step 2 - Set yourself a target of watching one new show a week Step 3 - Ask friends, neighbors and work colleagues which shows make them laugh Step 4 - Watch stuff with your kids, they know more than you think.
The strange thing is, after dinner tonight I sat and watched "Home Alone 3" with my kids and found the last half hour very very funny, when the bad guys go up against an eight-year-old kid and lose.
Utter nonsense and complete fantasy of course, but hilarious nevertheless.
I missed being able to laugh at TV shows so I'm happy to have found 4 simple steps to finding good comedy shows on TV.
If you're facing the same challenge I was, try the steps and start laughing again.
