- 1). Disconnect the electrical cord of the dryer from the power supply to avoid electric shock while you are repairing the motor. Open the dryer door and unfasten the screws underneath the front lip of the dryer lid with a screwdriver.
- 2). Flip the top lid back so that it is resting on the rear hinges against the back wall. Locate the front panel screws on the inside of the cabinet at the top. Remove the screws with a screwdriver and lift the front panel off of the metal clips at the bottom of the dryer cabinet.
- 3). Disconnect the two-pronged door switch electrical plug on the back of the front panel and set the panel out of the way. Use a screwdriver to unfasten the two screws on the front of the dryer cabinet (one on each side) that secure the side panels to the front bracket.
- 4). Move the idler arm near the motor forward to relieve the tension on the dryer belt and remove the belt from the idler arm and motor pulleys. Take the belt off of the dryer drum and remove it from the dryer cabinet.
- 5). Lift the drum off of the bracket on the inside rear panel and remove it from the dryer cabinet. Unscrew the fan blower on the back end of the motor with a crescent wrench. The fan blower is on the opposite end from the motor pulley.
- 6). Disconnect the electrical wires from the motor with a nut driver and move them out of the way. Depress the green motor clips with a screwdriver and lift the motor out of the motor brackets.
- 7). Place the new motor in the motor brackets and attach the electrical wires to the motor. Attach the fan blower to the back of the motor and slide the dryer drum back onto the bracket in the inside rear panel of the dryer cabinet.
- 8). Place the dryer belt around the drum and loop the belt over the idler arm pulley and around the motor pulley. Move the idler arm pulley back into position to add tension to the belt.
- 9). Reattach the two screws on the front brackets of the dryer that secure the side panels and connect the two-pronged door switch electrical plug to the back of the front panel. Slide the front panel over the metal clips at the base of the dryer cabinet and secure the top of the panel with screws.
