Poser 6 Tutorial

    Views and Camera Controls

    • The Pose room has a central main view where you can see the scene you are creating. It can be divided into four different perspectives, and you can change the camera direction and angle for each using camera controls on the far left. The camera controls have "arrow" direction controls that let you move the camera along the "X," "Y" or "Z" axis.

    Parameter Dials

    • To the right of the main view are the "Parameter Dials." These controls allow you to adjust the size, position and pose of a figure or object in the scene. For example, if you want to move an object from the floor surface so that it looks like it is sitting on a table in the scene, you would scroll down to the "Y" axis control and turn the dial until the object is at the correct height. You would then use the "X" and "Z" axis controls to place it where you want it on the table.

If you have a rigged (poseable) figure in the scene, you can use the "Parameter Dials" to pose it. Just click on a body part of the figure, scroll down to find the "Bend," "Twist" and "Rotate" controls, and use them to pose the body part.

    Poser Libraries

    • To the right of the Parameter Dials are the Poser libraries, where all of the figures, clothing, props, hair pieces and pre-made poses are stored. Click on the tab to open the libraries, and you will see that it is divided into subcategories. If you want a poseable figure or clothing to apply to that figure, you will go to the "Figures" library. If you want a hair piece to go on a figure, you will usually go to the "Hair" library, although these are sometimes stored in the "Figures" library. To add props to your scene you will naturally go to the "Props" library.

There are several other libraries as well, such as the "Lights" library, where scene lighting sets are stored, and the "Camera" library, where preset cameras are stored. There is also the "Pose" library, where preset poses (both static and animated) are stored.
