Watching the Red Carpet in High Definition.

The Oscars are the Hollywood movie industry's prom night. Stars get glammed up and prepare for the big day weeks in advance. It's everyone's night to shine, regardless if they win the big prize or not. The Oscars are a fun event for many people across America and the world to watch at home each year on Sunday night as well, and its even better to watch them in high-definition.

For a lot of people, half the fun of watching the Oscars is to watch the stars walk down the red carpet to see what they are wearing, what jewelry they have on, how they've done their hair, and who they are walking down the red carpet with. There are always surprises and unexpected things that happen amongst the chaos, as well as outfits that are definite hits and definite misses. And its even better to catch these styles and see what the stars look like when you are watching in high definition. This year the stars were wearing very muted tones and there were lots of metallics. The theme really seemed to be old Hollywood style fashion, and people were pretty conservative. The Oscars are black tie, so all of the men are in suits and the women are in long evening gowns. Some of the stand out gowns were worn by the stars who always seem to have the best outfits each year. For instance, Sarah Jessica Parker, who has been in several movies lately such as Meet the Morgans, but is most well known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in HBO's Sex and the City, had a wonderful light yellow silk evening gown on. It was finished with silver metallic roses on the front and had a yellow band across the front over her neck. Meryl Streep was also wearing a beautiful white gown that was very old Hollywood that had a medium length tress. She matched it beautifully with silver jewelry. Mylie Cyrus also looked great in a corset-like gown that was a light gold color that was very suitable to her age and very flattering for her coloring. Some of the misses included Jennifer Lopez's silvery-white gown. Even through a high-definition television it looked like she was wearing plastic wrap and the bows and loops were going everywhere and the tress seemed like an endless muddle of plastic bags. Charliese Theron also wore a dress that turned some heads, but in a bad way. It was a beautiful light rose color in what looked like silk, but there were two big roses made of silk on her chest that ruined the whole look.

If you didn't get a chance to catch the Oscars when they were on, hopefully you'll get to catch some of the award show coverage on the news channels the following Monday. There are also lots of gossip websites, cultural and human-interest websites and news websites that have pictures and commentary so you can find out what you missed on Sunday.
