- 1). Stay calm. Dealing with a baby who is throwing up can be stressful. Witnesses inevitably make comments and offer unsolicited advice. Do you best to ignore them and focus on the situation at hand.
- 2). Ask a store clerk for a plastic bag. This will give you someplace to put your soiled items.
- 3). Find a bathroom. It's the perfect location in which to clean up. Strip down your baby. Use wet wipes to clean her up, if you have them on hand. If you don't, use wet paper towels, napkins or toilet tissue. Put her in a fresh change of clothes. If you do not have a change of clothes handy, do you best to clean her clothing with soapy water and use the hand dryer in the bathroom to dry. You can also wrap your baby in a blanket if you can't use her clothing.
- 4). Use paper towels, soap and water to remove any vomit from your gear.
- 5). Clean yourself up. Do your best to remove any vomit from your clothing. If you've packed a spare shirt in your diaper bag, it's your lucky day.
- 6). Put all of your dirty items in the plastic bag. Tie a knot in the top of the bag. This will keep soiled articles contained and away from your other items.
- 7). Notify the store clerk that your baby was sick and ask him to send someone with cleaning supplies to the area.
