Are You Experiencing Loneliness?

Are you lonely? Do you have times, days, weeks where you experience loneliness? A feeling of being disconnected from your spouse, family, friends? Just What Is Loneliness?? There are many descriptions of loneliness.
They often contain words that describe feelings like despair, emptiness, hopeless and longing.
Which one of the following descriptions of loneliness feels right to you? * A feeling of having no common bond with the people around you * Feeling disconnected from others * Feeling sad because there is no one else available to be with you * Feeling uncomfortable being by yourself * Feeling that there is no one in your life who really cares about you * Being without friends or a companion * Feeling like you don't have anyone who wants to be with you * Feeling abandoned * Feeling left out * Being alone and not comfortable being with yourself * Being unable to connect with anyone on either a physical or emotional level I spoke to a friend recently who told me she was lonely.
She wrote a letter to her husband and expressed her loneliness.
On the surface you would think this friend has everything and was happy.
She has a wonderful family, successful husband, beautiful home, sports car, great figure, trendy clothes, lots of fun friends.
( me included of course! ) On the inside there is another story.
While my friend appears happy, she is not and has openly and honestly said so.
She has taken action on many scales to combat her loneliness including exercise, reading spirituality books, staying busy, taking 'happy pills', eating right etc.
It is not happening for her.
Now she is looking at a possible hormonal imbalance.
I give my friend huge kudos for acknowledging her feelings, being so open about it and taking action to find a solution.
While there are many solutions and avenues to take for loneliness, I would like to suggest one cure all.
Find God.
Put God first in your life and heart.
As the Lenten mantra goes ..
..
return to God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might.
Render your heart to God.
I propose it is impossible to be lonely when you have God in your heart unconditionally.
Knowing and believing the holy spirit is with you always.
God never abandons you.
Take some time to search your heart and find God.
Return to God with all your heart.
Put God first in your life.
Spend time in prayer and meditation until you know God is permanently in your heart.
Then watch your loneliness disappear!
