Wearing a suit is recommended for your immigration interview. The suit's color should be conservative in nature, so wear a deep blue, gray or black suit. Be sure to have the suit dry-cleaned and pressed.

The shirt or blouse you wear under the suit should be lighter in color, but ensure that it is not sheer or see-through. You may want to wear an undershirt just to be sure you are appropriately covered for the interview.

Women who wear skirts should check that it does not rise more than an inch above the knee.

    Footwear

Women should wear conservative, closed-toe shoes. Flats and pumps are acceptable provided the heel is 2 inches or less in height. Pantyhose should closely match skin tone and should not have a pattern on them.

For men, shoes should be black or brown, depending upon the color of the suit. They should be laced-up or tasseled loafers. Men should also wear black or brown calf-length socks to coordinate with the color of the suit.

For both parties, it is important to ensure your shoes are cleaned, shined and in good repair to make the best impression you can on the immigration interviewer.
