- 1). Remove the vehicle power cable from the box your new Garmin 440S came in.
- 2). Take both your GPS and your vehicle power cable to your vehicle. When your Garmin's batteries begin to run low, you will need to plug in your GPS to keep it in working order. Always keep your GPS and power cable out of view when you are not in your vehicle, because you don't want to give thieves any reason to want to break into your vehicle.
- 3). Plug in the vehicle power cable to a power supply outlet in your vehicle. Plug in the other end of the vehicle power cable to the allotted place on your Garmin to charge its battery. You can leave your Garmin plugged in or you can unplug it when it is charged and only use the power cable when the battery begins to run low.
