Faulty Bulbs

• Sometimes when motion detectors are malfunctioning, the problem can be the result of something as simple as a burned-out bulb or a bulb that is not screwed in tightly. So before purchasing a new bulb, try turning the bulb to the right to make sure it is secure. If that doesn't work, replace the detector with a bulb of similar wattage.
  
  

Bad Timing

• Occasionally, motion detectors will stay on too long or not long enough after movement is detected. If that is the case, check the affixed dial to make sure the duration is set for the light to stay on for the time you wish. Most motion detectors stay on for about 30 seconds to 20 minutes.
