- 1). Restart your computer. Wait right before the system is about to start and press "F8" continuously until you are redirected to the safe-mode screen. Opt to run your computer under the safe-mode with networking option (which will allow you to access the Internet). Choose to log in as the administrator.
- 2). Open the Internet browser. Go to the Microsoft website and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Run the program, and select the Software Distribution Service program to be removed. This software removes stubborn programs from your hard drive.
- 3). Press "OK" to continue uninstalling the software. Restart the computer again, but this time let it go to normal mode. Go to the control panel under "Add or Remove programs" or "Uninstall Programs" to ensure that the program was removed. Press remove on the software if it is still on the list of programs.
- 4). Run the Disk Defragmenter utility to restore your computer's performance and vitality. Find the utility under "Accessories" and "System Tools." Restart the computer.
