- 1). Insert the CDROM into the drive and reboot the computer. The Windows CD is bootable, so the computer will boot into a DOS installation screen.
- 2). Click the "R" key to start the repair process. The next screen summarizes repair options. Select number 1, which gives you access to the DOS prompt.
- 3). Enter the username and password for the administrator account. This process can also be used to repair a lost administrator password.
- 4). Type the following commands in the DOS prompt. These two files are necessary for the computer to boot. Replace the letter "e" with the drive letter for your CD-ROM:
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ - 5). Remove the CD from the drive and reboot the computer. The machine should now boot normally.
